Ant Kai, a sneaker customizer, created a pair of Sacai x Nike LDWaffle “Boro” custom sneakers that are modeled off official earlier iterations of the Air Force 1 and Air Jordan 4 that feature traditional Japanese Sashiko stitching. Kai embroidered crosses on the toe box, dashes on the side panels, and waves across the lateral swooshes on a pair of white Sacai x Nike LDWaffles as the foundation.

White textiles came from a Japanese fabric shop, while layered fabrics were derived from denim that had been donated. Blue-dyed outsoles, double-stack midsoles that have aged, and bespoke tongue tags are further embellishments.

The Nike x Sacai “Boro” Kai had on exhibit was his first pair of customizations; he will make more for interested parties, perhaps on various silhouettes.
The pair is expected to release this fall.
