AMBUSH Salutes Basketball Culture with New Nike NBA Capsule

After teasing its special dunks at the Future Sport Forum back in February, recent details of the upcoming Ambush x Nike capsule have surfaced. The capsule is a compilation of basketball and automotive inspired clothing freshly baked from the mind of AMBUSH founder YOON. The color scheme is focused around the jerseys of NBA giants Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets. Apart from its street infused sport ideology, the collaboration is a milestone in itself. It is the first time ever where a female designer is collaborating with giants such as Nike and NBA.

On choosing the top teams in NBA, Yoon stated that her inspiration was the women street style in the 90s. “I thought of all these amazing and strong female characters from the ‘90s who would come out in men’s clothes,” she stated. “I wanted to see how we could carry that attitude, but bring in more feminine forms”.

The high cut Nike Dunk in the black and white colorway highlights the entire capsule. Where it lacks in colors it covers up in its built. The shoe is taller than ideal and arrives with a midfoot rubber swoosh extending all the way back to the heel matching the design of a motorcycle tailpipe.

Apparel wise the colors are limited to the Lakers purple and gold or the Nets black and white. Starting off, 2 puffer jackets with humongous lettering of the team names alongside a pair of warmup pants with an insulated liner and a 2 toned waistband. A pair of game shorts peeking under from under pre-game warm up suits. Slim fitting long-sleeved tops matching the jersey artwork.

With retail prices yet to be announced the capsule will be arriving on the Nike webstore and Nike SNKRS on the 11th of this month.
