In its latest collaboration with Levi’s, CLOT builds on its East-meets-West philosophy.
“Year of the Tiger” denim collection showcases the animal’s symbolism of power and bravery, which coincides with this year’s Chinese zodiac sign. Founder and Creative Director, Edison Chen, said: “We wanted to create something culturally relevant to Chinese culture, and to do something around Chinese New Year, we looked into what the year meant.”. “Designing a woman’s only side of this collaboration was very interesting for me because to do women’s stuff you can go there a little bit more,” he added.
Presented in a lookbook shot by renowned photographer Kenneth Cappello, the special collection features Chinese-inspired designs, accented by an all-over tiger stripe pattern. This collaboration features men’s and women’s Type II Trucker jackets, which feature Chinese button knots and feature a striking pattern design. There are also a pair of 551z cropped jeans for men in a relaxed fit, and a high-waisted midi skirt for women with a back slit. Throughout the collection, CLOT’s signature Silk Royale pattern is featured on silk back patches and co-branded shank buttons.
“Instead of making a short skirt, we wanted to make a longer version of it. DIY is a huge component of fashion nowadays, and being able to start long and go short is something I thought was more interesting. People buy vintage denim all day, but it’s about how you keep your piece fresh with yourself.” said Chen.
The CLOT x Levi’s “Year of the Tiger” denim collection will be available at JUICE starting January 14.
