Each COMME des GARÇONS sub-label issues exclusive sneakers with a different footwear provider: HOMME PLUS and women’s mainline recruit Nike, SHIRT joins ASICS (and Spalwart), PLAY prefers Converse and HOMME is fond of New Balance. By and large, these are the most consistent collaborative creations; this is evidenced by HOMME’s latest footwear offering, conceived in partnership with New Balance as usual.
HOMME‘s workwear inclinations align with director Junya Watanabe‘s own heritage-minded design ethos and its New Balance collaborations often echo that retro motif. Such is the case for Fall/Winter 2020, which sees the menswear line remastering a pair of Pro Court Cup sneakers in two equally minimal colorways.
Offered in white and black makeups, the ensuing shoes are exceptionally understated, down to the impossible-to-see embossed “CdG” heel branding. Grippy rubber sole units and branded OrthoLite insoles make for ideal all-day kicks, while grain leather uppers and sturdy contrasted-stitched midsoles hearken back to the retro styles that Watanabe loves so well.
Expect stockists like SSENSE to release the new sneaker styles shortly, each weighing in at approximately $270 USD.
