Exclusive Look At The COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Force 1 Mid
Rei Kawakubo’s well-constructed universe seems to have separate collaboration of each and every diffusion this year. The CDG girl designed the Blazer Low in 1-of-1 dyes, SHIRT coloured within the frame of the GEL-Lyte III. Meanwhile, Junya Watanabe came up with another batch of minimal New Balance staples. But, without fail, COMME des GARCONS Homme Plus prevails as they did prior with their trio of Air Max 95s and now yet again this season with the similarly deconstructed Air Force 1 Mid.
The silhouette mainly lets its construction do the talking. Between the two neutral colorways, the white colorway better witness, the upper quickly and aggressively sets itself apart from its GR counterpart as many of the silhouette’s panels are uncut and extend pass its typical stitching. For instance, the Swoosh is recognizable only due to threading as the smooth leathers barely form any defined shape. Similar pattern is mimicked further along the eye stay and forefoot, latter more eccentric as the perforation-less toe box is primarily enveloped by the overlays adjacent. The strap bears a cut identical to the unrefined aesthetic already established, embellishes with “COMME des GARCONS” branding while the heel finishes with the classic Nike Air.
