Inspiration is everything to Jerry Lorenzo, and while his inaugural Nike collaboration was firmly imbued with the spirit of basketball, his latest Air Fear of God 1 indulges in more specific influence — namely one involving his longtime hero, Allen Iverson.
Artistic direction by photographer Gary Land lay host to a series of apparel and the model itself, each image directly correlating to legendary shots in the aforementioned athlete’s career: on-foots with pant legs agape, the designer himself flooded with microphones, and his child joining him in lounging all act as shot-for-shot recreations of obvious heartfelt homage.
Even the colorway itself takes cues from Iverson’s signature silhouette, the Reebok Question, as its color blocking mimics that of its toe box though with much less in the way of vibrancy.
Hits of cream cover the forefoot, leading backwards unto the hardshell cages and cleanly molded tooling, with breaks arriving abruptly as only one singular stitch separates the black-dyed mesh along the entire upper half. Grab a full look at the set of imagery here, and if you’re looking to pick up a pair of the Fear of God 1 “The Question,” they’ll be dropping February 28th.
