In-form hooper Russell Westbrook’s attitude towards the game can be described with words like courageous, implacable, and vicious. The all-rounder point-scoring machine still charges on the rim as they are the worst of enemies, barely missing a move after a bunch of seasons in the NBA. To pay homage to its athlete, Jordan Brand has allied with Converse for a two-pair pack that tributes Westbrook’s aggressive play style on his two favorite iterations– the Air Jordan 16 and Converse Chuck 70. Inspiration for both the sneakers is taken from the public hoops proving grouds – the street-ball grounds across inner cities that have given birth to the elite legends of the game. The Air Jordan 16, for example, features chain-link accents on the leather shroud – a tribute to the chain nets. The Chuck 70 is covered in cracked white leather, depicting the worn paint on the concrete.
Also, there’s a topsy-turvy fashion edge as both the sneakers are built with a variety of materials such as leather and satin. The choice of materials is taken from the roll-styled leather jackets that Westbrook rocks on a daily basis.
The Jordan x Converse “Why Not?” pack will launch on October 2nd on SNKRS and SNEAKRS.
