We have seen Penny Hardaway silhouettes on the frontlines very often, and they have been revived through the release of the Air Foamposite One, and the rumours regarding the release of the Air Penny 3, from 1997. One of, if not the most active of the NBA All-Star’s sneaker family has been the Air Penny 5, as 2020 has given us a look at makeovers, of pairs that are very old, and new. After getting a new finish with tiger patterns on the midsole, the basketball model is getting a new paint job, again inspired by a retro colourway. The base layers are formed with the iconic wavy paneling, and are backdropped by a clean shade of white, and surrounded by accents of Royal Blue, in the swooshes and midsole molds. This translates to the Orlando Magic’s home colours. The tongues and heels are detailed with a pinstripe pattern, which is a nod to the first Penny shoe. The pair will drop in the coming weeks, on Nike’s website for a retail price tag of $150.
