Nike has offered a brand new silhouette of its Space Hippie 04, one of the most environmentally friendly kicks from the brand’s shoe line. After revealing its “Volt” colorway from back in July, the American sneaker mogul has opted for a smooth “Astronomy Blue” this time around.
The whole sneaker is made from at least 25 percent recycled material by the mass, and it’s the lightest iteration the Space Hippie line has yet revealed, also with the lowest carbon footprint. Rocking a breathable “Space Waste Yarn,” the shoe’s upper-body is made from 85 percent recycled polyester that’s been taken from plastic bottles, T-shirts and yarn scraps. A dashing white tag is placed at the top of the sneaker, added by a set of ecru-toned laces, while the sidewalls are etched with an delicately woven Swoosh that pays homage to the traditional Japanese sashiko weave. All of these features rest on top a light blue Crater Foam mid sole that’s been made for maximum cushioning and support. The shoe also comes with a shoe box made from re-cycled materials, detailed with plant-based ink.
Nike’s Space Hippie 04 “Astronomy Blue” will be available on September 23, 10 p.m. EDT on the brand’s webstore for a sum of $130 USD.
