Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse’s 2021 “Chinese New Year” Collection Is Inspired by a Temple Fair 

With the Chinese New Year just a few weeks away, Nike, Jordan brand and Converse have already made arrangements to honor the occasion. The capsule consists of footwear and apparel in accordance with the celebration and will be arriving in three different themes: the explosive firecracker, the artisanal Chinese knot and naturalistic spring blossom.

Nike has opted to mix and match silhouettes from the past and present. First of the lot are the Dunk Low OG and the women’s Dunk Low Disrupt, both arriving in a firecracker inspired packaging pattern, wrinkle-paper textures, fuse-inspired laces and a warning label. The Kyrie 7, Air Max 2090, SuperRep 2 and Blazer Mid ‘77 will also be celebrating the New Year with the Chinese knot-like characteristics. On a closer look you will find that the tongues of the shoes have been amended to resemble the temple fair ticket. The Air Max Verona and Nike Blazer Mid Rebel will also be arriving in tones of pink and white taking inspiration from the peonies and orchids.

From the Jordan brand there are four new variations of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG, Air Jordan 5 Low, Air Jordan 35 and the Jordan Delta Breathe. The former presents itself in a bred color blocking with the Jacquard Year of the Ox pattern. Alongside the shoe you will be also receiving a collectible card and lotus root tassels to amp the look. The latter arrives in a sail shade with a wear away upper housing a firecracker packaging layout. The Air Jordan 35 is equipped with both the bred tone as well as the tearable upper while the Jordan Delta is accented with floral patterns once again taking inspiration from the peonies and orchids.

Lastly from Converse are three new iterations of the classic Chuck 70. All of which agree to the previously mentioned characteristics and are decorated all over in quilted patchwork and woven knot patterns. The uppers arrive in a vibrant orange shade contrasted with a firecracker imprinted heel.

Aside from the kicks, there will be a range of apparel inclusive of hoodies and jackets from Nike sportswear. A custom-crafted Liverpool FC kit and a few pieces from Kyrie’s line. A women’s dress is also included which represents the traditional Chinese costume.

Products from Nike will begin their sales from the 1st of January. Jordan brand’s offerings namely the Air Jordan 5 low and Air Jordan 1 low drop on the 14th and and 31st of January while the Chuck 70s will be available from the 21st of the same month.
