Two of the league’s most dominant players in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have brought Ws back to Brooklyn since their signing. They share a close friendship and are both signature athletes for Nike. With so much in common, it isn’t a surprise that the two have joined forces for a special colorway of the Slim Reaper’s 14th signature release. Honoring his All-Star teammate, Durant and the Swoosh have created a special Nike KD 14 “Ky-D” colorway — one which harkens back to Kyrie’s debut signature sneaker.
The pair takes KD 14 silhouette as the canvas and the Kyrie 1 “dream” for style as an inspiration for the court-ready sneakers. The black and red color coordination from this rehash is rendered onto this modernized take with the former covering the majority of the base’s exterior graphics, Swooshes, and laces while the latter bleeds onto the straps, KD branding on the tongues, and the medial side’s forefoot checks. Multi-colored geometric patterns from Irving’s aforementioned pair are copy-pasted onto the underlays and tongues to groom the KD 14 with a playful aesthetic. The Air Zoom Strobel midsoles are given a black background and contrasted with a yellow bar that’s seated in the middle. Finishing the design are outsoles with a bold red hue.
Nike KD 14 “Ky-D” is set to release on June 5th with a retail price of $150 on the official Nike website.
