Since Kobe Bryant passed away a short while ago, his line of signature Nike sneakers have been in a never ending limbo, as the brand struggles to figue out what the best way to handle the forthcoming products is. Though they did once have many on the way for not only this season, but also the next, those releases have seemingly been stopped now – and for good reason. Now, months later, Nike seems to be more than ready to pay homage and to celebrate the Black Mamba’s legacy, via a few familiar takes on the Kobe 5 Proto. Among an alternate black and white version, the “Bruce Lee” colourway is becoming pretty popular globally, with nearly every one of its original details. Yellow sides and toe caps accent the nearby black panels to complete the whole tracksuit reference while bold red claw markings detail the area near the forefoot. Heel tabs dye, to reach a matching shade, as does Kobes signature just under, and metallic silvers finish the emblem at the heel. The pair will release with a retail price tag of $180.
